BUYER TIPS
Buyer Tips
Make Loan Application
Before starting your home search, contact a mortgage lender to get approved for a home loan.
Having a pre-approval letter available at the time of offer could be very beneficial, especially if
other offers are submitted at the same time.
Keep You Realtor's Business Cards Handy
There will be times when you are out driving and looking for homes without your Realtor. If so,
have a few of your realtor's business cards to give to on-site agents or sellers to show that you are
being represented. This is very important, especially if you have an Exclusive Buyer Brokerage
Agreement. It minimizes confusion, and avoids conflict.
Read All Agreements Thoroughly
It is very important to read any and all agreements and contracts regarding your interest in
purchasing real estate property before signing an agreement. Ask questions if you are not clear on
contract language. Most realtors have written many purchase and sale agreements, and most
assume that you (buyer/seller) are familiar with the contract verbiage and understand your
obligations. If needed, consult with a real estate attorney of your choice to fully understand your
rights. You, as a buyer or seller, must take some responsibility.
Be Courteous
When you agree to use a realtor (EBBA) in your search for real estate property, please be clear and
upfront about your intentions. If you feel that your Realtor is not performing up to your
expectations, FIRE them in writing, and explain why you are releasing your obligations to work
with them. Most realtors have access to the same listings services, and can locate homes just as
the next Realtor. Be respectful and use one Realtor in your real estate search.
